Deck builders Melbourne

A natural extension of your home.

A deck does more than add a surface. It connects the kitchen to the garden, creates a place to gather, and turns unused space into somewhere you want to be. We help you work through the layout, materials and practical details before building begins.

Get a Deck Quote

A deck with your name on it.

Timber decks

The character of real timber, with individual grain and colour. A considered choice for a warm connection to your garden.

Composite decks

A consistent finish with a different care routine. Compare product-specific warranties, surface temperatures and installation requirements.

Pool decking

A coordinated pool surround, with careful consideration of drainage, surface performance, access and pool barrier requirements.

Raised decks

Make better use of sloping land or an elevated floor level, with structure, steps and balustrades considered together.

Replacements

Renew an ageing deck after assessing the existing frame, foundations and any concealed deterioration.

Extensions

Create more space while checking how new construction can connect safely and neatly with what is already there.

Materials with
something to say.

Get to know your options. The right choice balances appearance, practical performance and ongoing care.

Merbau

Rich reddish-brown tones. Discuss sourcing, preparation and tannin management around adjacent surfaces.

Spotted Gum

Distinctive grain and a broad natural colour range. A characterful Australian hardwood option.

Blackbutt

Lighter honey tones and an understated grain. A natural fit for bright, open outdoor spaces.

Composite

A range of colours, board profiles and finishes. Compare the actual product rather than assuming all composites perform alike.

Timber or composite?

Timber offers natural variation and can be refinished, with ongoing cleaning and coating requirements. Composite provides a more uniform appearance and generally avoids timber oiling, but still needs cleaning. Heat, wet-area performance, fastening systems and warranties vary by product. We discuss samples, sun exposure, maintenance expectations and total cost before you decide.

Have something else in mind?

Ask us about your project
How much does decking cost in Melbourne?

The quote depends on deck size and height, material, access, ground conditions and details such as stairs or balustrades. Demolition, engineering and approvals may also affect the scope. A site visit allows a specific written quote rather than a misleading generic square-metre price.

What decking material should I choose?

Start with the appearance you like, your maintenance expectations, sun exposure and budget. We can compare timber and composite samples and discuss the care required for each product.

How long does it take to build a deck?

Timing depends on size, site preparation, approvals, weather and material availability. Your proposal will set out an indicative construction window, with scheduling confirmed before work begins.

Does a deck require a building permit?

Victorian guidance says decks with a structural subfloor require a building permit. Your project may have additional planning or site requirements. Confirm the position with a building surveyor or your local council before starting work.

What is the difference between timber and composite decking?

Timber is a natural material with variation in colour and grain and typically needs periodic refinishing. Composite is a manufactured board with product-specific properties and generally does not require oiling. Both need cleaning and correct installation.

How long does a timber deck last?

There is no single lifespan for every deck. Timber selection, framing, drainage, exposure, installation and ongoing care all matter. We discuss a maintenance plan for the chosen materials instead of promising a fixed lifespan.
